But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9

God is so good, God is so good, God is so good, He's so good to meeee.

it's truly only by God's grace and protection that I have yet to get into an accident while driving.
and only by His providence that i'm back home safe and sound.

so today i drove an hour into jersey for a beautiful wedding, and on the way back, due to a building fire downtown causing a 90 minute backup at the holland tunnel, was at one point illegally attempting to get onto local roads by driving the opposite direction on the emergency lane. we decided to cut a/c, radio, and crack open the windows. thank God for the unusually cool weather today. traffic eventually began moving again, so we turned back around and headed for the holland.
a third of the way into the tunnel, i noticed that stepping on the gas didn't have any effect, and slowly, it happened. the battery light came on, and the car slowed to a dead stop. thankfully, because of the traffic all the cars are going at 15mph at that point, so they just get mad and honk as they switch to the other lane and zip angrily by. i start praying, and foolishly get out of the car. haha.. stopped several cabs but alas none of them had jumper cables.
in the end, God answered my prayer through a friend we called who suggested we try turning the engine off and restarting. and miraculously, it worked!

turns out after my uncle checked it out that the battery connection was loose.
what if the connection dropped while we were speeding down the NJturnpike? what if it happened and we were in midtown tunnel where there are barriers between the two lanes and no cars would've been able to switch over? what if it didn't restart and we had to wait for AAA to get through the 90 minute delay into holland just to tow us out? what if the connection had dropped again before i got to my uncle who tightened it for me?

plenty of what ifs, but i'm so thankful. all thanks and praise be to God who protected me and my patiently enduring car-mates. He even cares for us when we're experiencing car trouble. :)

beautiful scenes of wintry creation brought this hymn to mind:

This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.

This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought

Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
 His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white, declare their Maker’s praise.

This is my Father’s world: He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done:
Jesus Who died shall be satisfied,

And earth and Heav’n be one.

This is my Father’s world, dreaming, I see His face.
I ope my eyes, and in glad surprise cry, “The Lord is in this place.”

This is my Father’s world, from the shining courts above,
The Beloved One, His Only Son,
Came—a pledge of deathless love.

This is my Father’s world, should my heart be ever sad?
The lord is King—let the heavens ring. God reigns—let the earth be glad.
This is my Father’s world. Now closer to Heaven bound,
For dear to God is the earth Christ trod.
No place but is holy ground.

This is my Father’s world. I walk a desert lone.
In a bush ablaze to my wondering gaze God makes His glory known.
This is my Father’s world, a wanderer I may roam
Whate’er my lot, it matters not,
My heart is still at home.
